INSURANCE PROMOTION IN THE DOMAIN OF AGRICULTURE

Company “DDOR Novi Sad” and Cooperative Union of Vojvodina signed a protocol on cooperation in 2014 with the aim of presenting possibilities for specific increase in the share of insured agricultural production and raising awareness of the necessity of insurance. This protocol was implemented successfully through a series of working meetings with farmers, and similar meetings continued to be organised in this year as well.

A working meeting was held in Novi Sad last week, and the participants were addressed by Radislav Jovanov, attorney and president of the Cooperative Union of Vojvodina, prof. dr Žarko Ilin from the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, dr Maurizio Valla, assistant general director for sales and marketing in the company “DDOR Novi Sad” and MSc Goran Ivanović, director of Branch Office “Novi Sad – 1” and regional manager in “DDOR Novi Sad”.

The representatives of our Company discussed the details of basic and supplementary insurance in crop and livestock production, and provided the attendees with general information on life insurance, property insurance and motor vehicle insurance. Moreover, together with the other participants of the meeting, they pointed out to the importance of an active increase in the share of insured agricultural production in Serbia by about 30 per cent (currently it is less than 10%).

Benefits provided through insurance of agricultural crops and livestock in Serbia are mostly recognized by professional agricultural producers and companies in the field of agriculture. However, the under-utilized potential of insurance in this area is partially a consequence of a lack of information with agricultural producers. Meetings like this one contribute to providing better information to the target groups. Working meetings that were held so far in Šid (Morović), Zrenjanin, Kovačica, Palić, Sremska Mitrovica, and Novi Sad, are only a part of the activities that our Company is actively conducting in order to promote the importance and value of insurance for farmers.
