42 new trees were planted in Partizanskih baza street in Subotica thanks to DDOR’s campaign “For a forest in your area”, announced and launched in the run-up to last year’s Belgrade Car Show. The trees were planted in cooperation with the City of Subotica and on this occasion Radoslav Vukelić, city secretary for municipal affairs, energy and transport and Sandra Tikvicki, director of the Subotica branch office symbolically planted a tree together. In this way, the environment has been improved in five of ten cities selected after thousands of votes were cast from more than 188 cities across Serbia. After Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Zrenjanin and Novi Sad, February and March 2023 are reserved for the afforestation of Belgrade, Vršac, Užice, Novi Pazar and Tutin. Having recognized the importance of this campaign, which goes hand in hand with the long-term strategy of Unipol Group and DDOR Osiguranje as its member, the company has extended the campaign in 2023 to all 12 months of the year in order to provide more funds through eco-policies to make Serbian cities even greener.
Commenting on the successful cooperation, the city secretary for municipal affairs, energy and transport Radoslav Vukelić said: „The trees were planted thanks to the resources provided by DDOR as part of its campaign “For a forest in your area”, in cooperation with the City of Subotica and the Public utility company „Čistoća i zelenilo“. This will help increase the number of green areas in the city. The local self-government of Subotica participates in these and similar campaigns and new green areas and rows of trees in the city will help reduce the amount of dust, noise, and pollution and provide more oxygen. It will have a positive impact on people’s social and physical health, improve the ecological image of the city and its appearance and strengthen its identity.“
After planting the tree, the director of the Subotica branch office Sandra Tikvicki said: „We are pleased to be here today, knowing that Subotica was voted by our fellow citizens as one of the 10 cities to receive saplings as part of the campaign “For a forest in your area”. It is always a pleasure to participate in activities which benefit the entire community and directly improve the environment. DDOR Osiguranje is an integral part of the life of our city, its residents, and the companies operating here. Through the quality of our insurance services and genuine care for our community, we have proven today that we are worth the trust they have placed in us for years. Since the response to this campaign has been nothing but positive so far, DDOR has decided to continue working to protect and improve the environment and has included this activity in its three-year plan, with the support of Unipol Group to which we belong. It means that this campaign will help us provide and plant hundreds of trees in the coming years. It is of utmost importance to take steps today to secure healthier environment tomorrow. I would like to thank the City of Subotica and its representatives for their support and for helping us provide a better future for all.”
Before Subotica, 50 trees were planted in Novi Sad in December 2022, in February 2023 78 were planted in Zrenjanin, 21 in Smederevo, and 44 in Sremska Mitrovica. As previously announced, a new cycle of the project “For a forest in your area” began in 2023. In addition to the completion of the campaign launched in 2022, it also includes the allocation of funds from each stipulated eco-policy of DDOR for tree planting in the following year. By arranging eco-Casco or eco-Moja kućica insurance, as well as annual eco-Travel insurance package, our clients contribute directly to the number of new trees planted in cities throughout Serbia.
