Sremska Mitrovica is the fourth city to become greener thanks to the campaign of DDOR Osiguranje “For a forest in your area”, announced and launched in the run-up to last year’s Belgrade Car Show. 44 trees were planted in the Memorial Park in cooperation with the City of Sremska Mitrovica and on this occasion Vladimir Pavlović, president of the City Assembly of Sremska Mitrovica, and Branislav Jurišić, director of the Sremska Mitrovica branch office symbolically planted a tree together. In this way, the environment has been improved in four of ten cities selected after thousands of votes were cast from more than 188 cities across Serbia. After Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Zrenjanin and Novi Sad, February and March 2023 are reserved for the afforestation of Belgrade, Subotica, Vršac, Užice, Novi Pazar and Tutin. Having recognized the importance of this campaign, which goes hand in hand with the long-term strategy of Unipol Group and DDOR Osiguranje as its member, the company has extended the campaign in 2023 to all 12 months of the year in order to provide more funds through eco-policies to make Serbian cities even greener.
President of the City Assembly of Sremska Mitrovica Vladimir Pavlović said: „I am happy to know that the City of Sremska Mitrovica can count on a company like DDOR when it comes to the environmental protection. I would like to invite all individuals and companies to join this campaign. It has been running for several years, but with increased intensity since last year when 80 000 saplings were planted for 80 000 residents of Sremska Mitrovica. I can proudly say that we will continue the windbreak campaign this year. We are starting to remodel existing parks and plant new ones. I dare to say that Sremska Mitrovica will be one of the cleanest and greenest cities in Serbia“.
Commenting on the campaign, the director of the Sremska Mitrovica branch office, Branislav Jurišić, said: “Today is an important day for Sremska Mitrovica because, thanks to our campaign “For a forest in your area”, votes of our fellow citizens and the support of city representatives, we were able to add 44 new saplings to the Memorial Park. I am very proud of the results of this project and the fact that we can work together on raising awareness of important environmental issues. As part of this campaign, DDOR will provide and plant hundreds of trees in the coming years, because it is included in our three-year plan, supported by Unipol Group to which we belong. This campaign is our way of saying thank you to our fellow citizens and clients, who have been giving us their trust for decades, which we have earned through the quality of our insurance services and genuine care for our community. I would like to thank the City of Sremska Mitrovica and its representatives for their support and for helping us provide a healthier environment and cleaner air for present and future generations.”
Before Sremska Mitrovica, 50 trees were planted in Novi Sad in December 2022 in the park by the main train station, in February 2023 78 were planted in Zrenjanin in Karađorđev park, and 21 in Smederevo in Vuka Karadžića street. As previously announced, a new cycle of the project “For a forest in your area” began in 2023. In addition to the completion of the campaign launched in 2022, it also includes the allocation of funds from each stipulated eco-policy of DDOR for tree planting in the following year. By arranging eco-Casco or eco-Moja kućica insurance, as well as annual eco-Travel insurance package, our clients contribute directly to the number of new trees planted in cities throughout Serbia.
